This block-style appliqué quilt is made special by the triple lattice strip sashing and triple border. The red, green, and chrome orange or “cheddar” fabrics used were popular with quilters in the mid-19th century. The tan ground fabric for the appliqué is unusual, as quilters typically selected white or off-white fabric as the background for floral appliqué quilts.
